What is Channelling?

Put simply, channelling is allowing another being to speak through you. But that raises lots more questions, like who speaks through you and how do you do it?

For me, channelling is a way of bringing greater wisdom, insight and love into my life. I regard the beings I channel as presences of light who lovingly, patiently and with immense skill teach me to access higher levels of my own guidance. They are helping me to be more fully my Higher Self. This means that, like all good teachers, they do not always hand me answers on a plate. As the saying goes, ‘If you give a man a fish you feed him for a day; if you teach him how to fish you feed him for a lifetime’. Rather, it is if they take a powerful torch and shine it into my consciousness so that I may see what otherwise I might ignore. Their purpose is to guide me to enlightenment or self-realisation, so that I in turn may share whatever I learn with others who also seek to become self-realised.

Those beings whom I principally channel, Sananda, Sanat Kumara and Omani, are all available to everyone; and indeed many other people channel the first two. Everyone who channels colours the guidance they receive with their own personality and understanding. If you are interested in learning to channel, send out a clear intention that you wish to work with the highest guide you are capable of connecting with at this time. All guides and masters (beings of light) must be very accomplished and evolved in order to take on this role. They have very high levels of compassion and, though they may sometimes be very direct and to-the-point, are completely non-judgemental.

In order to channel, I find a particular ‘inner space’. To reach it I must be reasonably relaxed and calm: the closer my state of consciousness is to the being whom I channel, the easier the connection is. But if I am to communicate also, then my state must not be too high, for then the connection may be blissful, but the power of turning it into words is partially or even completely lost! When I’m channelling it often feels as though I am sitting in a bubble of light, aware of the outer world, but a little removed from it. The channelling space is a living state, so it changes moment by moment. It evolves too, for as time goes on I discover more of what is possible. Sananda once said to me, ‘We can be connected all the time, you know’. At the time that seemed improbable and a little alarming. Now it makes much more sense.
